Tonawanda Seneca artist Ernest Smith’s 1936 painting “Skywoman” depicts the creation story from many of Turtle Island’s Indigenous nations.

To avoid errors in our retelling of the Skywoman creation story (since Joyful is owned by a white woman), we’ve elected to share a link to the story from an Indigenous artist instead.
